We are looking for a talented and experienced Postdoctoral researcher to join the Department of Surface and Plasma Science at the MFF UK. In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to work in the field of atomic, molecular and optical physics, where you will use your expertise in the confinement of charged particles, specifically electrons, in radio frequency traps and laser-cooling to design and commission a state-of-the-art Paul trap operating at several GHz.

In this position, you will have the chance to work with a dynamic and collaborative team, led by Dr Michal Hejduk, on a project funded by the PRIMUS program of Charles University. The project aims to study the interaction of electrons with ions cooled well below 1 K and to develop methods to control this process through the interaction of particles with external electromagnetic fields.

To be successful in this role, you should have strong technical skills, including the ability to design microwave circuits, draw in CAD programs, and perform numerical simulations using Comsol. In addition, we are looking for someone who has the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rapidly evolving environment. A passion for the study of light-matter interactions, plasma physics, and photonics is a plus.

The contract for this position is for one year, with the expected starting date of February 1, 2023 (negotiable). If you are excited about the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in atomic, molecular, and optical physics, with a focus on electron trapping, we encourage you to apply for this position today!
