    Applications are invited for a Temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within School of English, Drama and Film
    This postdoctoral position is designed to develop and integrate environmental research based on Arts and Humanities methodologies into the MARBEFES project (see project description below). The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant Arts and Humanities discipline, with particular expertise in environmental humanities, and a strong interest in interdisciplinary environmental research. They should also be able to demonstrate a strong track record in high quality research, presentation and publication. They will need to be able to work collaboratively across a large range of academic disciplines, including working closely with researchers in marine science and social science, and be able to translate the results of humanities research into an interdisciplinary framework for environmental management decision-making and policy development.

    MARBEFES (MARine Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning leading to Ecosystem Services) is a EU-funded project which aims to determine the links between the biodiversity and functioning of coastal and marine ecosystems and the resulting ecosystem services and societal goods and benefits. In this it will achieve ecological and socio-economic valuation through a validated set of innovative tools in a distributed toolbox to enhance policy and governance to secure benefits for current and future generations. The project will progress substantially beyond the current state-of-the-art understanding of the causes and consequences of the maintenance, loss and gain of biodiversity and ecological and economic value and the repercussions of this for the management and governance of European seas.

    The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

    Post Doc Level 1 Salary Range: €41,209 - €43,699 per annum
    Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
