POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE GRADE 7
£36,368 - £38,592 pa
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher for an MRC funded project to work in the group led by Dr Urszula McClurg (
https://www.mcclurglab.com/ [mcclurglab.com]), to investigate the mechanisms driving reactivation of meiotic genes in cancer and ways we could exploit this in the clinic. We want to understand how meiotic genes become reactivated in tumours and develop methods that allow us to study gene reactivation. You will capitalise on our newly developed promoter activity analysis tools for the meiotic genes of interest combined with detailed cell biology, genetics, genome editing, biochemistry, proteomics and molecular biology to fill this critical knowledge gap in our understanding of cancer development. You should have a Ph.D. in life sciences and evidence of research productivity. Ideally applicants should be trained in CRISPR genome editing, molecular cloning, tissue culture and CRISPR library screens. This post is available for 3 years.
Informal enquiries to Dr Urszula McClurg:
[email protected] Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
