Junior/Senior postdoctoral positions are available at the Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Science (IFFS), University of Electronic Science and Technology China (UESTC) located in Chengdu, China. UESTC is one of the top research universities in China, while Chengdu is a thriving city with modern amenities served by a highly connected metro system, high speed rail and two airports. Cost of living in Chengdu is also very affordable compared to other major cities.
The positions are generally for two years, but can be renewed for up to six years depending on research performance. Candidates who are broadly interested in the area of theoretical quantum information/computing are encouraged to apply. The group has recently won a grant to develop quantum algorithms to study nonclassicality in many body quantum systems, but candidates with other research interests are also welcome. Hired postdoctoral researchers are highly encouraged to form their own research directions and collaborate with both local and international researchers.
Postdoctors with several years of experience and strong CVs may also be eligible to apply for permanent faculty positions at the assistant/associate professor level. Eligible candidates are encouraged to enquire for more information
Eligibility Criteria:
a) Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Quantum Physics or a related field.
b) Ability to speak and write English is necessary for this role.
c) Applicants have to be less than 35 years old.
We offer:
i) A two year contract with a one year probationary period, which is renewable up to a maximum of six years.
ii) Basic salary ranges from 200,000 yuan to 350,000 yuan per annum, depending on profile/experience. Graduates from top universities worldwide can also apply for a fellowship which brings the total salary up to 400,000 yuan per annum. Please enquire if you are eligible for this fellowship.
iii) There is a variable bonus that depends on research performance.
iv) Free/subsidized housing near campus.
v) 10,000 yuan per annum travel subsidy which can be used to travel back to your home country (for non-chinese citizens).
