The UCL Division of Psychiatry is within the Faculty of Brain Sciences and a centre of excellence in Mental Health research. Our aim is to contribute to the improvement of mental health through research and education. We address clinical problems in order to achieve benefits for patients and public health, using insights from basic science. We also deliver innovative teaching, relevant to clinical practice, which is informed by our research.
About the role
This is an opportunity to be a part of an exciting research project aiming to use Biomarkers to investigate Genetics, Environment and Mechanisms in Schizophrenia (Bio-GEMS). This study is funded by the Medical Research Council.
The post holder will be involved in the recruitment of participants as well as data collection including biological samples, clinical and biomarker assessments. The candidate will be responsible for the secure storage and statistical analysis of data collected.
The post holder will write scientific papers from the study data. There is the opportunity to undertake a PhD at UCL based on the project.
The post is funded at spine point 25 of grade 6B (£34,502 per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance), for 3 years in the first instance at 100% full time equivalent.
About you
The postholder will have an upper second-class or higher honours degree in a relevant field and experience working with people with severe mental disorders and of recruiting participants with psychosis into studies. A Masters or a doctoral degree in psychology, neuroscience, genetics or a relevant field is desirable.
The postholder will have experience of managing a research project, analysis of data using quantitative methods (e.g. linear/logistic regression) and managing study finances and preparing annual operating budgets and financial reports.
