About our team - Mō te tīma
The Centre for International Health is based in, and works across, the Division of Health Sciences. We are a core component of the cross-Divisional Otago Global Health Institute (OGHI), an official University of Otago Research Centre with >140 members, with the goal of fostering multi-disciplinary global health research. We facilitate and promote research to contribute to the understanding and improvement of health in collaboration with partners in under-resourced countries, while focusing on postgraduate training and strategic mentorship of future leaders.
The role - Te mahi
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to plan and conduct systematic reviews and meta-analyses of published data on the typhoid fever epidemiology, and to engage with other invasive Salmonella disease and febrile illness research projects. Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will facilitate relevant reviews and research, analyse data, and write drafts of manuscripts, ensuring successful completion of the goals outlined for the Typhoid Vaccine Acceleration Consortium and related projects.
Aspects of this role will involve facilitation of time-sensitive projects that are relevant to informing major global vaccine policy decisions and working with study team leaders in a range of international locations.
This position represents an exciting opportunity to join one of the country's most research-intensive Universities and become part of a team helping to lead research in New Zealand.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to work independently, enjoy working with data, the literature, and synthesising large amounts of data.
You must also have:
• A Doctoral degree in a field related to the project with substantial experience in epidemiology, quantitative research methods, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis
• Appropriate research experience and publications
• Experience in infectious diseases epidemiology, especially of febrile illnesses and the burden of disease estimation methods
• Proven ability to communicate scientific findings and to write and publish scientific papers
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and independently
• Ability to maintain a professional approach with both staff and students while under pressure
• Evidence of collaborating with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds and across multiple institutions

This is full-time (1.0 FTE, normally Monday - Friday), fixed term position (three years), located in Dunedin. The Salary Level is set at $77,793.
