We are seeking a motivated Oxford-BMS Research Fellow to join the CAMS Oxford Institute at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will join the research group of Dr Ricardo A. Fernande, and become a member of a dynamic research group with responsibility for working on an exciting collaborative and translational project. During this Fellowship, you will manage your own research and provide guidance to members of the group, including postdocs, research assistants, PhD (DPhil), Master and undergraduate students, as well as working closely with the industrial sponsor BMS. You will lead a research program to develop protein molecules to control signalling by checkpoint receptors found in T cells.
It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or close to completion), in Medical Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, Structural biology, Immunology or a related field. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes and have significant understanding of fundamental aspects of the adaptive immune system. It will be required that you have expertise in tissue culture and cellular assays, including the handling of culturing of cell lines, PBMCs and, primary T cells isolated from blood and tissue. A flexible attitude, working with little supervision, and managing multiple tasks in a milestone-oriented project will be essential.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This post is offered full-time on a fixed term contract for 3 years, and is funded by the Oxford-BMS Fellowship Scheme.
Only applications received before 12:00 noon on Monday 8 August 2022 will be considered.
