Several available postdoctoral positions are funded through the generous Dioscuri program of the Max Planck Society and the National Science Center (https://www.mpg.de/18704575/three-new-dioscuri-centres-to-be-launched-in-krakow-poland; https://www.mpg.de/dioscuri).

We investigate the dynamics and mechanisms of activation in receptor proteins. Our results provide the basis to understand the driving forces behind protein function. Time-resolved serial X-ray crystallography enables us the creation of high-resolution "molecular movies" of proteins in action, with unique insights into critical transitions. As an example of ongoing research work, please see our recent publication: Mous et al. Science (2022) "Dynamics and mechanism of a light-driven chloride pump." (https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abj6663)
You will join the research group led by Przemyslaw Nogly (recently transferred from ETH Zurich; https://noglygroup.ethz.ch/) which is a dynamic international team with the English working language. The research will involve 1) protein biochemistry, 2) crystallography, 3) data processing and analysis, and 4) biophysical and biochemical characterization. It is possible to combine laboratory work and extensive data analysis or focus on one of these steps. Importantly, significant initial data is already available.

We are conducting interdisciplinary research and applicants from diverse backgrounds such as biology, chemistry, or physics interested in protein mechanisms are welcome.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly (along with your CV) to discuss details: [email protected]

We will assist in finding accommodation and dealing with the administration to ensure a smooth start in the beautiful city of Krakow.
