We are seeking to appoint a full-time fixed-term researcher from July 2022 to work on two related European projects funded through H2020: MediaFutures and EUHubs4Data. The projects support small data businesses, artists, and combinations thereof, by providing services around data literacy, entrepreneurial opportunities, legal implications of technology, and standardization.
The successful candidate will be based in the Distributed Artificial Intelligence group in the Department of Informatics.
The role will involve research and development in data science and data-driven innovation, with a focus on AI entrepreneurs, innovators, start-up ecosystems, and business-arts collaborations.
Our contributions to the two projects are in supporting entrepreneurs and artists to be more successful with data and AI technologies, by facilitating access and use of critical datasets, advising and training on specialist topics, and assessing their programme experience. Our role further includes the collation of insight from participants and the projects overall in project and research publications.
You should have a PhD in computer science, data science or web science, or equivalent work experience. Expertise in working with data (for instance statistics, machine learning or other data science methods) is essential. In addition, the ideal candidate brings experience of one of the following areas: innovation, start-ups, art-tech collaboration. The position requires a very good grasp of the state of the art in data science and AI. This includes the ability to use some core concepts and methods, but also a general understanding of the field, of the underlying technologies, and of their economic, social and environmental implications.
As a post-doctoral researcher, you will be the main contact point for us for the MediaFutures and EUHub4Data consortia and oversee the delivery of our contributions, which will be produced by a team of researchers, including yourself. You must have outstanding time management, organisation, and collaboration skills. The post also includes (virtual) meetings with the project team and industry partners and requires fluent English communication skills to: engage with colleagues; perform public outreach; produce publications; present work to different audiences; and forge partnerships for follow-up funding.
Your application should show evidence of both the technical and non-technical aspects relevant to the job.
The post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 1 year.
This is a full-time post.
