Duties and Responsibilities
Applications are invited for the post of research fellow at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. They will join research groups headed by Maria Balda and Karl Matter.
The duties and responsibilities are to study tight junction-associated signalling mechanisms during ocular neovascularization, fibrosis and inflammation in vivo and in vitro. S(he) will be working with mouse and cell culture models of choroidal neovascularisation to identify the molecular and cellular mechanisms of novel drugs developed.
The position is funded by Moorfields Eye Hospital until 30 March 2023 in the first instance.
Key Requirements
This position requires a PhD in Cell/Molecular/Developmental Biology, Biochemistry, or another related discipline.
The person appointed will have a UK personal Home Office animal licence, and experience in mouse eye injections and in vivo eye function assessment techniques.
The project also requires basic tissue culture and molecular cell biology (analysis of mouse eye tissue, protein and mRNA expression analysis, quantitative biochemical and cell-based assays, fluorescence microscopy).
