    Post Summary
An exciting Research Fellow position exists in Trinity College Dublin in the Department of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering, linked to a project recently funded.
The successful candidate will be affiliated to the STAM research group, under the direct supervision of Prof. Rocco Lupoi. This person will support the development of research labs activities by effectively becoming the technical lead and the first point of contact for the usage of infrastructures within the lab (laser equipment, additive manufacturing equipment, testing equipment, computer equipment). The applicant is expected, within a short period of time, to be able to manage all laboratory activities linked to research projects within the group and in the area of additive manufacturing and laser machines (setup a booking system, lead the repair of infrastructures if needed / liaise with vendors, setup lab rules so to manage the space and maintain it functional and very tidy, risk assessments planning and writing, technical support for new PhD students or post-docs joining the group, mange the research group webpage).
The applicant will also contribute to the delivery of the department teaching programme and is expected to take responsibility of 1 full module in year 5 (master level), and 1/3 of another module in year 4. These are existing modules with handouts and power point slides already in place. The Fellow will deliver the classes, examine (via an exam paper) the students at the end of the semester, attend the examiners meetings.
Indicatively speaking, the Fellow will spend (during a typical academic year) about 70-75% of her/his time in research led lab work, and 25-30% of the time in lecturing and teaching admin.
It is also desirable and encouraged (but not compulsory or expected) for the Fellow to get involved as author in publications with colleagues from the same research group.
