Your project idea
We are looking for highly innovative projects in the area of industrial biotechnology addressing the imminent challenges of health
(focusing on biopharmaceutical manufacturing), climate change and sustainable (re)use of resources. Use the attached template
to show us that your project idea is both highly original and has considerable innovation potential for industrial application.

The fellowship
The Spin-in Fellowship of the Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology (acib) is a unique opportunity to develop innovations for
industry in an academic environment.
Our 18-months fellowship gives you the possibility to prove the feasibility of your project idea and show its applicability in industry
and its relevance for potential industry partners. After the 18 months, there is the possibility for a mid- to long term career perspective within our research center depending on the outcome of your project, and the chance to establish your own research group.
The fellowship will be accompanied by a scientifi c and business development mentoring. In your scientifi c work, you will be
mentored by a leading scientist in the respective research area and acib’s business development department supports you in
partner acquisition and project management. In addition, you will benefi t from acib’s comprehensive partner network from academia and industry.

Mid- to long-term perspective
The fellowship program has been designed to lay the foundation for a mid- to long-term perspective as a senior scientist with leadership responsibility within acib. Use your unique and promising idea to write a comprehensive and compelling short project proposal. Convince us that your project has potential for industrial biotechnology and become part of it!

Your background
We expect that you have completed your PhD with a full-time research experience of a maximum of 5 years. You should be fi rst or last author of several (high-impact) publications, have spent some time as a researcher abroad (not in your home country) and you should be used to independent scientific work.

Our offer
The research will take place at a lab of one of acib’s partner universities in Austria (Vienna/Tulln/Graz/Innsbruck).
• The minimum annual gross salary amounts to EUR 55.300. This corresponds to a monthly net amount of EUR 2.580 (paid 14 times a year)
• There will be a structured evaluation process
• Final decision: March 2022
• Planned start of employment: June 2022
• Application deadline: 15TH February 2022
