The position is limited to 3 years. With option of further extension. Salary: Salary (TV-L)
At the Heidelberg University Hospital, Department of Hematology, Oncology and Rheumatology, we are offering a postdoctoral fellow position in the research group of Dr. med. Caroline Pabst (Pabst Lab:
https://www.klinikum.uni-heidelberg.de/en/kliniken-institute/kliniken/zentrum-fuer-innere-medizin-krehl-klinik/innere-medizin-v-haematologie-onkologie-und-rheumatologie/forschung/ag-pabst-max-eder-nachwuchsgruppe/eng-max-eder-junior-research-group-pabst) for 3 years in full-time with the option of further extension. Starting date: as soon as possible. We are searching for a highly motivated and dedicated researcher with a PhD degree or equivalent and a strong background in molecular biology and/or cell biology and great enthusiasm for hematology. The postdoc fellow will work on different third-party funded projects with a common aim to dissect how stem cell associated genes drive leukemogenesis and relapse in AML. Ideally, the candidate has expertise in gene editing (CRISPR), shRNA design, next-gen-sequencing techniques, and in vivo experiments. We aim to understand how genes that induce or maintain stem cell properties participate in the pathogenesis and chemo-resistance of AML. To achieve this aim a broad number of in-vitro- and in-vivo-models are available in our lab including access to a biobank of primary human patient cells. We are also closely collaborating with labs at EMBL via our Molecular Medicine Partnership Unit (MMPU SCN:
https://www.embl.org/about/info/mmpu/research-groups/stem-cell-niche-networks/). The final aim of our studies is to translate the experimental findings into novel treatment strategies for AML patients.
