Research Fellow-Environmental Modeller
Department of Geography, University of Reading 

This appointment is full-time, fixed-term for 2 years and starts on 1 October 2010

Grade 6 - £27,319 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for an environmental modeller to join a team working on developing strategies for mitigating the effects of climate change on freshwater ecosystems. Your role will be to develop and test models of the effects of climate change on hydrology, water quality and freshwater chemistry in Mediterranean catchments, and to downscale climate scenarios for this task. The work is part of REFRESH, a large EU-funded project with partners from 17 countries, with many opportunities for collaboration

You will have:
• a strong interest in environmental modelling, and preferably some experience
• the ability to program in a mainstream language, or be willing to learn
• a PhD in a relevant subject
• some knowledge of hydrology and hydrochemistry

Some knowledge of the Mediterranean environment would be an advantage. This 2-year post offers an opportunity to develop your skills in a large international project.
