Technologist - preimplantation genetic diagnosis

This position is based at a laboratory specialising in genetic diagnostics, specifically preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). The successful applicant will receive training in a variety of methods for the detection of chromosome abnormalities and gene mutations in minute tissue samples (e.g. single cells). Upon completion of training, the successful applicant will work as part of a team performing tests aimed at improving the success rates of infertility treatment (i.e. IVF) and/or diagnosing serious inherited diseases. The laboratory has strong links with academia and is actively involved in basic scientific research as well as translational research. An understanding of genetics and experience using the polymerase chain reaction are essential. Some weekend work will be required.
