We seek a Fluorescence Microscopy Expert at the Max-Planck-Institute of Biochemistry (MPIB) in Martinsried (Munich), Department Cellular and Molecular Biophysics (Prof. Dr. Petra Schwille) to strengthen our team for the development of new microscopy-based biophysical methods.
Our group has a strong background in single molecule techniques and is working at the highly interdisciplinary interface of physics, biology and biochemistry.
Requirements: The applicant should have a strong background in optics and method development, especially in the context of cellular and biochemical research. A PhD (or equivalent) in physics or a closely related discipline would support the application. Experience in one or more of the following fields is desirable: fluorescence microscopy and/or spectroscopy, development of optical setups, image and data analysis.
The Max-Planck-Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply. Furthermore, the Max-Planck society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.
About the institute: The Max-Planck-Institute of Biochemistry is a leader in the field of biochemistry, cell- and structural biology, and biomedicine. With seven scientific departments, more than 30 research groups, and a staff of around 850 scientists, the institute is one of the largest within the Max-Planck-Society.
30 paid vacation days. Up to 14 months compensated parental leave possible.
