We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated full-time Research Associate to join our multidisciplinary team within the Division of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Department of Surgery, University of Cambridge. This position is funded through a collaborative research programme between GlaxoSmithKline R&D and the University of Cambridge.
Research in our group investigates the role(s) of cell populations from bone, marrow and cartilage in the synthesis of musculoskeletal tissues and aims to understand how these cells can be used as part of new interventions and therapies for the clinic. This post will work closely with scientists from GlaxoSmithKline to better understand disease modifying therapies for osteoarthritis.
The successful candidate must hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject and have appropriate laboratory research experience. Candidates should have experience of methods relevant to this project (see further particulars for details). This post will require knowledge and experience of cell and molecular approaches to understand adult mesenchymal cell, bone and/or cartilage cell biology. Furthermore, experience of fabricating and using soft biomaterials to deliver therapeutic compounds would be advantageous.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.
