The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £33,686 - £40,716 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work with Professor Peter Coveney in the Department of Chemistry at University College London. The successful candidate will join a very active inter-disciplinary group in the Centre for Computational Science, and will work on the development and deployment of medical and clinical applications of the lattice-Boltzmann method for blood flow. This post is funded by the European Commission as part of the CompBioMed project, which is a user-driven Centre of Excellence in Computational Biomedicine, to nurture and promote the uptake and exploitation of high performance computing within the biomedical modelling community. The postholder will develop existing lattice-Boltzmann algorithms and codes (collectively known as “HemeLB”) for medical and clinical applications. The post is available for a period of 2 years in the first instance, and the appointment will start on 1st October 2016 or soon thereafter.
The successful candidate will have a PhD degree (or about to be awarded a PhD) in an area of the mathematical, physical, engineering and computer sciences or related areas, and extensive experience of modelling and simulation, particularly involving high performance computing, preferably with the lattice-Boltzmann method. Please note, appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6 (salary £29,485 - £31,091 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
