Founding scientist to build start-ups across areas from biotech to energy

Deep Science Ventures is a fully funded 6 month programme to turn scientists into founders. We accept 60 scientists pre-idea, pre-team, help you to build the team from a multidisciplinary cohort, identify huge hidden opportunities with industry experts and invest into the best teams. Our companies are purely science based addressing areas as diverse as food, pharma, materials and energy.

You will be paid a minimum wage stipend for 3 months whilst you meet people and come up with ideas and then receive at least a £30k investment into the company as soon as you are able to demonstrate a viable idea and technical proposal.

We work with Masters, PhDs, PostDocs and industry scientists across disciplines (chemistry, biochem, engineering, computing, maths, physics, health and many others) who have the ability to demonstrate a 'growth mind-set', i.e. creativity, determination, empathy and persuasive ability on top of outstanding technical skills. No formal business skills are necessary as in fact science is the perfect skill set for discovering an opportunity and getting a start-up up and running before later integration of senior industry experience.

Our background: For the last 5 years we have run the spin-out, incubation and acceleration activities at Imperial College London, one highest ranking universities in the world. We have built companies from scratch and sold them to the likes of Google (health-tech) and Facebook (virtual reality). We spotted a gap to help people turn their technical skills into impact where they hadn't already found the right idea or team and started DSV to solve this.
