Postholder will provide comprehensive management to the Plasmodium berghei laboratory at a research and administrative level in liaison with the Principal Investigator, Professor Andy Waters. Specifically, the postholder will design and execute research and develop new scientific tools for the future progression of Plasmodium research at the international collaborative level. Emphasis will be placed upon imaging technologies and molecular biology approaches, including NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) and genetic parasite manipulation.
Administrative responsibilities will include the line management of the existing technical team, (currently 3 staff), the recruitment and training of future technical staff and the maintenance of the Home Office project licence. Furthermore a contribution to the administrative remit of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Molecular Parasitology (WTCMP) will be expected.
