    The School of Science and Technology is an exciting multi-disciplinary environment for research and was highly rated in the REF2014.

    The Imaging Science Group within the School is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow on a two year fixed term contract. The primary role is to conduct research into inverse problems in x-ray scattering, absorption and imaging for novel security screening systems. Specifically, to investigate inverse (ill-posed/ill-conditioned) problems encountered in material specific imaging. This work forms part of the Halo X-ray Imaging Programme led by the University and funded by the US Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS).The research will involve working closely with scientists at Cranfield University other institutions in the UK and abroad.

    It is essential that the post holder has a good first degree in a relevant numerate subject area and a PhD involving inverse problems and mathematical modelling. A track record in publishing high quality 3/4* peer reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences is desirable.
