    We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to understand the mechanism of action on bacterial cells of a new antibiotic that has potential in clinical medicine. You will join Dr. Gavin Thomas’s group as part of an interdisciplinary team for this project. You will lead on both in vivo and in vitro approaches to understand how the antibiotic works against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria using a range of microbiological and biochemical methods. You will already possess, or will be awarded a relevant PhD within three months of starting the post. You will have experience in molecular genetic approaches in bacteria and some experience in protein purification and ideally with enzyme assay & have excellent communication skills. The research will be conducted in the Department of Biology, which provides state of the art facilities for molecular microbiology and biochemistry research, and will make use of the resources on offer in the Biosciences Technology Facility.

    This post is funded by an EPSRC grant and is fixed-term for up to two years. Starting salary will be within the range of £30,434 - £37,394 a year.
