    The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to appoint a PhD student to conduct research in the Laser Engineering and Manufacturing Research Group.

    The Laser Engineering Manufacturing Research Group is the UK’s newest and fastest growing laser engineering research group. You will be part of a group that staffed by people with international research profiles conducts cutting-edge research in purpose-built laboratories equipped with top of the range apparatus. We have a wide-ranging research portfolio supported by our established and developing industrial partnerships. This studentship supports a research grant awarded by a large multi-national company to study the laser bonding of established and advanced materials, and pays a stipend above the standard RCUK rate (fees paid only at the UK rate).

    You should possess a minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree or a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a Physical Science. You will be a motivated and dynamic person, with a demonstrable capability to conduct independent research.
