The post holder will be an integral member of a team undertaking original scientific research on complement in ischemia reperfusion injury, transplant rejection and urinary tract infection in the Department of Innate Immunity, Division of Transplantation Immunology and Mucosal Biology, at Guy’s Campus.
The post holder is expected to: i) investigate the biological functions of complement components (e.g. collectin-11) and receptors (e.g. C5aR) in tissue homeostasis and pathogenesis; ii) explore the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which complement activation participates in host defence/immune regulation/cell differentiation and influences the balance of tissue repair and fibrosis. Extensive experience of immunology, cellular and molecular biology, tissue repair/fibrosis is essential. Knowledge/experience in the complement system and nephrology will be an advantage.
