The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Assistant to join the School of Computer Science.
You will be working on the development of intelligent indoor navigation technology, as part of a collaborative project funded by Innovate UK. Working with partners RNF Digital Innovation Ltd, Bestway Cash and Carry Ltd, and Aston University, you will help to develop novel and engaging approaches to personalised shopping experiences, on consumer mobile platforms. You will contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of new real-time planning and navigation algorithms, utilising a range of technologies including new Bluetooth-based iBeacons and other sensors. Primary tasks include work on approaches for navigation, experience planning, and modelling of user data. You will also be involved in knowledge transfer activities, dissemination of outcomes and presentations at conferences/workshops and other events.
Applicants will have skills and experience in a relevant field e.g. development of navigation and planning algorithms, mobile platforms, learning algorithms, or sensor data processing (e.g. WiFi, iBeacons, on-device movement sensors). Good programming knowledge is important for this post, as is enthusiasm, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project partners. Applicants for the for the Research Fellow post will have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area, and published research outputs of international standing.
