PD Research Scientist



    Suitably qualified Post-Doctoral scientists with experience in molecular biological and immunological techniques are invited to apply for PD Research Scientist vacancies 03-01-15 and 04-01-15. These positions will focus on furthering the development of vaccines to control specific livestock parasites through understanding immune mechanisms provoked by vaccination and the development and testing of novel vaccine formulations. The successful candidates will be responsible for:
    •Over-seeing vaccine trials and analysing the resultant datasets
    •Undertaking transcriptomic analyses of host responses to immunisation and infection
    •Engaging in collaborative activities with other members of the research consortium and in delivering specific dissemination activities.
    In addition to the above, these postdoctoral scientists will also be responsible for:

    PD Research Scientist 03-01-15 Salary £28,384 - £29,566
    •The development of in vitro assays to assess the effects of immune stimulants/novel adjuvant formulations on ruminant immune cells
    •Assessing novel adjuvant formulations in vivo

    PD Research Scientist 04-01-15 Salary £28,384 - £29,566
    •The design and use of eukaryotic recombinant protein co-expression systems
    •Investigating sequence variation in defined vaccine candidates.

    Research Scientist vacancy 02-01-15 Salary £22,972 - £23,442
    Suitably qualified technicians with molecular biological skills, including recombinant protein production, and immunology expertise are invited to apply for Research Scientist vacancy 02-01-15. This position will assist in research relating to the optimisation and development of subunit vaccines to control parasites of livestock. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
    •The production and purification of recombinant proteins for subunit vaccines
    •The organisation and performance of vaccine trials in sheep and cattle
    •The preparation and archiving of RNA samples for downstream transcriptomic analyses
    •Assisting in the preparation of research reports
    •Specific dissemination activities
