    Research collaboration between the University of Birmingham, U.K. and Nottingham Ningbo University, China aims to build upon previous successful collaboration to develop exciting new tools and crowd-sourced resources for tasks in virtual environments. Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified and experienced researchers.
    Eligibility: Suitable applicants require a PhD and experience of software development, applied signal processing or 3D computer graphics. Applicants must be prepared to spend one to two years researching at Nottingham Ningbo University in China and one year at Birmingham University in the UK. Suitable applicants should have spent five years prior to the deadline undertaking full time research activity in Europe.
    Funding: The host institutions will apply for H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship funding for selected candidates as named postdoctoral researchers.
    The Research: The proposed research will develop exciting new tools for virtual environments. These will include empowering tools and resources for virtual environment tasks, for example, stigmergic tools, tools to shape crowd-sourced effort and tools to support collaborative reconstruction tasks. The work will significantly expand on Leverhulme Trust funded work at the host institutions which involved collaborative reconstruction of broken cuneiform tablets: http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/3dcuneiform
    The principal investigators for the proposed research are Drs Sandra Woolley, Tim Collins and Eugene Ch’ng.

    Funding: Financial support is provided for up to 36 months (full-time equivalent). "The budget is calculated using the ‘researcher unit cost’ of €4650/month (monthly allowance, adjusted by country, plus a mobility allowance of €600/month and a family allowance of €500/month), if applicable.
