We are seeking two postdoctoral researchers funded by the University of Würzburg (Germany). The postdocs will initially be based in Cambridge (UK) until April/May 2015, moving to Würzburg (Institute of Virology) with my lab thereafter. The positions are for ≥3 years. Employment is by the University of Würzburg based on TV-L E13.

We employ systems biology methodology and reverse genetics to address interesting questions in herpesvirus host cell modulation and immune evasion. Work will be either on MCMV or HSV-1. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent qualification. Knowledge in German language is not required but welcome. Funding is available for three years but can be extended as required. We offer an attractive collaborative research environment. We encourage the supervision and guidance of PhD, master and bachelor students, in order to build personal teaching and leadership skills.

My lab is currently based in Cambridge (until 9/2015). However, I will move to Würzburg in March 2015 to become head of the Institute of Virology. The two positions are available from October 2014. Depending on personal preference, the postdoc would either join my lab in Cambridge until April 2015 and then move with me to Würzburg, or start in Würzburg in March 2015 and then visit my lab in Cambridge for 1-3 months to learn methods like reverse virus genetics, ribosome profiling, 4sU-tagging and PAR-CLIP.
