The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £37,152 - £40,313 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
We wish to recruit a Research Associate to work on a project investigating error-tolerant multimedia stream processing systems. The work is a collaboration between UCL and the Institute of Computing Systems Architecture (ICSA) of the University of Edinburgh and supported by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
The post holder will be required to carry out research in the above area, including theoretical analysis, design and validation of error-tolerance in stream processing kernels, precision adaption of stream processing systems for multimedia computing and cross-layer interaction with compiler- and architecture-oriented optimization.
The appointment is available from 1st October 2014 for a period of 24 months in the first instance, with the possibility to extend it for another 24 months.
A PhD (or equivalent research experience) in computer science or electronic & electrical engineering is required. If the successful candidate has not yet been awarded their PhD, appointment will be made at Research Assistant level at Grade 6 (£29,193 - £30,783 inclusive of London Allowance).
Applicants should also have a strong programming and analytic background (optimization or stochastic modelling), demonstrated by a relevant Masters degree as well as significant experience and expertise in C/C++ and Matlab.
